Cloche Assembly Guide

All our cloches are supplied as metal frame kits. Glass is not included with any order and must be purchased separately. See our Glass Requirements guide for the sizes and quantities you will need before you begin assembly.

Assembling your cloche

This guide covers High Barn, Low Barn and Apex Seedling (Seedbed) cloches. Use the assembly instructions for your cloche type, and read them fully before starting.

A wooden assembly post is supplied with every High Barn and Low Barn cloche order to help support the frame during glazing. Seedbed cloches do not need the wooden assembly post, so it is not included with Seedbed cloche orders.

Before you begin

Check that you have all the components listed in your kit instructions and the correct glass panes for your cloche. Have your supplied assembly instructions to hand throughout assembly.

Our Glass Requirements guide also explains how to ask your glass supplier about arrising the pane edges to smooth sharp cut edges.

Assembling your cloche safely

Wear suitable cut-resistant protective gloves when handling glass and assembling the metal frame, and wear eye protection during assembly. Glass edges can be sharp.

Handle each pane carefully, even if its edges have been arrised. Arrising helps reduce the risk of cuts but does not remove the need for protective gloves. Check for cracks, chips or damaged edges before fitting, and do not use damaged panes.

Choose a stable, level work area and keep children and pets away while assembling your cloche.

High Barn and Low Barn Cloches: using the wooden assembly post

The wooden post helps support the frame while you fit the glass. Follow the positioning and fitting sequence shown in the assembly instructions supplied with your kit. If you are unsure how to position the post or fit a pane, stop and contact us before continuing.

Watch the High Barn Cloche assembly demonstration

Watch our assembly video before starting, then refer back to the relevant stages alongside your supplied instructions as you assemble your cloche. The Low Barn Cloche uses the same assembly process.

Apex Seedling (Seedbed) cloche assembly instructions

The Seedbed cloche uses a different assembly method and does not require a wooden assembly post. The post is therefore not included with Seedbed cloche orders. Follow the dedicated Seedbed instructions rather than the High Barn and Low Barn assembly method above.
