Complete your cloche with locally sourced glass

All our cloches are supplied as metal frame kits. Glass is not included with any order and must be purchased separately.

The guide below shows the glass needed for one cloche of each type. You can use these measurements to request a quote from a local glass supplier before ordering your frame kit.

What glass should I ask for?

Ask for 3mm horticultural glass, cut to the sizes listed below. This is the glass traditionally used for greenhouses and garden cloches.

You may also be able to reuse suitable 3mm greenhouse glass. Any reused panes should be free from cracks, chips and damaged edges. If glass needs cutting, we recommend asking a glass supplier to prepare it for you.

Handling glass and assembling your cloche safely

Wear suitable cut-resistant protective gloves when handling glass and assembling your cloche. Glass edges and metal components can be sharp. Wear eye protection during assembly and follow the assembly instructions supplied with your kit.

When ordering your glass, ask your glass supplier whether they can arris all pane edges. Arrising smooths the sharp cut edges, helping to reduce the risk of cuts when handling and fitting the panes. It does not make glass safe to handle without protection: continue to wear suitable gloves and handle every pane carefully.

Check each pane before fitting and do not use glass that is cracked, chipped or has damaged edges. Assemble your cloche on a stable, level surface, keeping children and pets away from the work area.

Apex Seedling Cloche

For one complete cloche, you will need two panes of 3mm horticultural glass, each measuring 610 × 305mm (approximately 24 × 12 inches).

Low Barn Cloche

For one complete cloche, you will need four panes of 3mm horticultural glass: two roof panes measuring 610 × 305mm (approximately 24 × 12 inches), and two side panes measuring 610 × 203mm (approximately 24 × 8 inches).

High Barn Cloche

For one complete cloche, you will need four panes of 3mm horticultural glass, each measuring 610 × 305mm (approximately 24 × 12 inches).

Ordering more than one kit?

Multiply the pane quantities above by the number of cloches you are ordering. The glass measurements stay the same.
